Breakfasts/Girls – Boys Special Events
To coincide with the Men’s and boys’ breakfast all Primary girls were invited to a movie night in the gym with their mothers, grandmothers and aunties. The epic shown was the famous Bee Movie.
The dress code was pyjamas and seating requirements were doonas, sleeping bags, bean bags and anything comfortable. Staff also donned their pyjamas and bagged popcorn, lollies and provided bottled water.
The evening was such a success a Family Movie Night followed in Term Three this time for a showing of Horton Hears a Who.
The gymnasium was a hive of activity prior to the movie with the young students extremely excited at the prospect of watching a movie at their school. More of these family events will be planned in the future.
Secondary Mothers and daughters High Tea
On Friday 13 June the college gymnasium was transformed in to a lovely café with white tablecloths, silver tea light candle holders and pastel helium filled balloons. The tables were laden with tiered cake stands filled with delicacies to be enjoyed.
The secondary girls and their mothers and grandmothers enjoyed a lovely High Tea and sipping on a tropical punch whilst listening to the beautiful sounds of Michael Buble and Norah Jones.
This was a lovely way to end a week and the ladies really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and fellowshipping with one another.
Men and Boys' Breakfasts
It has been my privilege as the College Chaplain to organise four breakfasts in 2008 for boys and their dads/father figures at Kingsway CC. Our first breakfast in February saw over 200 attend, with head of Physical Education, Mr Matthew Elliot, a father of 4 himself, speaking to the gathering on raising a modern day knight.
Our other breakfasts have had an average attendance of 150 enthusiastic men and boys who have come to school early to hear on one occasion from a father and son share on some their experiences, and from another dad, encouragement for men to lead devotions in their homes. The boys enjoy juice and a bacon and egg muffin, but most of all they enjoy having their dad/father figure attend their school and spend some time with them.
It has been my desire that as a school, we do all we can to strength and encourage boys, young men and dads to follow Christ and make their lives count serving Him.
Family Bowling Night
On Friday June 27 over 50 families from Kingsway descended on Warwick Superbowl for a night of challenging tenpin bowling. Families competed as a unit against other families, with numbers and ages taken into consideration to try and even things out. However as competitive as everyone was to try and win some of the chocolates and goodies on offer, the fun and enjoyment by those who attended was the real winner. Thank you to all those who came out on a wet and windy night to enjoy some family time and fellowship with other Kingsway families.
