Senior School (Years 10 - 12)
Curriculum
Senior School opportunities include engagement in English, Health and Physical Education, Languages, Mathematics, Science, The Arts, Technology and Social Sciences.
Kingsway provides highly qualified, able staff to deliver these quality learning experiences.
The College’s gymnasium is an excellent venue for some of the great learning experiences provided to our students. Our Senior School will benefit from the new Isaac Newton Centre which is scheduled to begin construction in the very near future.
Kingsway has partnered with the University of Western Australia by participating in their Outer Metropolitan Program in which scholarships are offered in the areas of Dentistry, Medicine and the Sciences. The University of Western Australia provides mentors for students who decide that this is their chosen pathway. The mentoring program begins as early as Year 10.
Our Year 10 Students are included in the Senior Secondary Program as this is the year where students will experience an introduction to the Courses of Study and also engage in Structured Workplace Learning experiences. Some students will choose to engage in Vocational Training courses which facilitate TAFE entry, whilst others will choose courses leading to Tertiary Study.
The two years of Post Compulsory Education (Years 11 and 12) are designed to extend students and assist them to make informed choices which will equip them for life. At Kingsway, we believe in instilling the beliefs and values in our students that provide them with an opportunity to develop a strong Christian world view.
Careers
Kingsway Christian College includes Careers Education in its list of offerings for Year 10 students addressing important life issues such as career choices, self-esteem and respect for others and their rights, ethical decision making and work placement advice. Work experience placements are offered to Year 10 students so that they can experience real life and be aware of the opportunities facing them after post compulsory education.
Students and their parents are encouraged to book an appointment with our Careers Counsellor for further advice on opportunities available to them. Students in Year 11 and 12 may also receive advice concerning their applications to TISC, TAFE, Private Tertiary Institutions as well as being kept informed concerning scholarship applications.
Service
There are many opportunities for senior students to participate in active service within the College and wider communities. Under the requirements of the Western Australian Certificate of Education, senior students must keep a log book and engage in service activities. Counselling is offered through the Deputy Principal (Curriculum) and the Careers Counsellor.
We encourage our students to become involved in the many service opportunities that are available through churches and their missions programs, both within Australia and globally.
