Kingsway's Got Talent
On 7 September 2008, we held a special fundraising talent contest and fashion parade called Kingsway’s Got Talent! The evening was a tremendous success and huge amount of fun was had by all of those who attended. Among the performers in the talent category we had everything from enthusiastic dancers to humorous monologues and a wide variety of musical solo’s and groups. The fashion show also showcased a high standard of skill both in design, construction and creativity in all three categories: Casual/Daywear, Eveningwear and Fantasy. The judges were very impressed with the variety and skill presented by our students on the evening.
The following students were awarded prizes in the Talent category of the show:
- 1st prize went to Matt Negrulj, Daniel Hansen, Jeremy Randal, Scott James and Stella Underwood with a song called “Whisper”.
- 2nd prize was awarded to Rebecca Gregson who performed her self-devised monologue titled “Mrs T”.
- 3rd prize was won by Emma Trinder with her beautiful rendition of “Amazing Grace”.
- An Encouragement Award went to Jamie Worrell who showed excellent developing potential.
The Fashion aspect of the competition was divided into three categories and one winner was chosen in each category.
Casual/Daywear winner was Elyssa Currie with a very trendy summer dress. The Eveningwear winner was Grace-Marie Versaci with a purple and black ball gown featuring accents with lace and beading.
The winner in the Fantasy Category was Renee Clark’s dress made entirely from postcards, which was modelled by Alison Nicoli.
The judges awarded Highly Commended to Sarah Hollick for her intricately constructed garment and wings based on a Dragonfly.
The atmosphere on the night was festive and very positive. And the best news is that we raised $2487 towards an education project in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea through Baptist Education PNG.
